It is indeed difficult to be a Cubs fan... There is good news: 90 days until X-mas and 150 days until Spring Training!

Hello Ms. Gallo,
Did you write the lovely poem "Fill In"? I am trying to come to terms with the two-year college I'm teaching at, and am having just the same feelings.
Rhetorically, the most pleasing surprise for me is "you weren't" in the last line, where one expects "I wasn't" or "they weren't" (although "you weren't" fits with the metaphor of a student absent from class, of course).
Anyway, it's a lovely poem and really helped me feel more at peace. Thank you.
